Glory

To the people in the back who don’t get enough sun.

To the people in the front who fake their fun.

Just know I see you in all your glory.

I’ve peeped through the blinds and saw you at your worst.

I casually looked your way when you spoke of your firsts.

When your smiled arched and your cheeks grew red,

When you pretended your love was already dead.

Just know I see you in all your glory.

You said you’d never come back

To this town, to these people, back to that…

But here you are, pretending to be okay,

Pretending like your life isn’t in decay.

Your shoulders strong and your jaw locked still.

Your pride faded but your eyes seeking thrill.

Just know I see you in all your glory.

Step forward and meet my gaze.

Search your mind for words to say.

I’m here when you need me.

I’m here when you don’t.

I’m here to believe you.

I’m here when others say they won’t.

I have a special place of growth,

It’s called listening to your story.

And just know I see you in all your glory
